Saturday Sidebar: What has been your favorite moment on WMB?

November 5, 2011 1 comment

Since we celebrated World Moms Blog’s 1st Blogiversary this week, Jen Burden, our founder, asked,

“What has been your favorite moment so far on World Moms Blog?”

The Alchemist of India writes:
“I got my first paid writers’ job after my employer read my first post at World Moms Blog. It was India: In the eyeglasses of the beholder.

I have come a long way from there. I got two editing offers after someone checked out my posts at WMB and another site (Awesome Cuisine). These have been some “Awww, is it me?” moments. The power of affirmations, like Jen mentioned in the Blogiversary post.

I have especially liked Dr. Jeanelle’s post on taking time out for oneself as a mom, and about the emotions when the child leaves the nest. That is one great post and mothers have to always be cautious about their individual identity. I always had that in mind and her post reinstated the same.” Read more…

TEXAS, USA: Interview with Diana @Hormonal Imbalances

Where in the world do you live? And, are you from there?

Currently, I live in the last place on Earth I ever wanted to live: El Paso, Texas. My husband is in the Army and we were stationed here. But – after three months here – I’m starting to think it’s growing on me. I love how very earthy it all is, how family oriented. Still, moving from Denver to here was a shock.

What language(s) do you speak?

I speak English, ASL, and a little Spanish but I’m working on learning more. Here Spanish is essential, we live about 15 miles from the border of Mexico so many people in this area only speak Spanish.

When did you first become a mother?

Bella was born November, 2009. She is our first child after 6 1/2 years of marriage. We weren’t sure we ever wanted kids, now we can’t remember life without her. Read more…

Where in the world do you live? And, are you from there?

I was born and raised in Southern California. I’ve spent the majority of my life in Ventura County, which is between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara Counties. We are blessed with great weather, beautiful beaches, and low crime. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to grow up and I’m so happy that I’m able to raise our son here.

What language(s) do you speak?

I speak English but after a few days in Mexico, I’m able to remember some of my four years of Spanish.

When did you first become a mother?

I became a mother on February 3rd, 2009. Blake is our only child and we are not planning on having any other children. Read more…

INDIA: My Decision: SAHM vs. Working-Mom

August 10, 2011 32 comments

Where I live in India, you hear a lot of criticism or praise about whether you are a stay-at-home-mom (SAHM) or a working-mom (WM) or even if you convert from one to the other.

It has been almost ten months since I became a SAHM, but I still receive judgments about my decision. Just check out these conversations…

Conversation # 1

Me: Wait a minute, why should you say sorry because I left my job? I am actually enjoying it…

Person X: No, No, I am still sorry that it had to happen this way…

Me: What? You insist that I should receive your apologies? Fine. Thank you. Oh well, it’s not like anyone died or anything.

Conversation # 2

Person Y: You lost it? I know, hard times… Economic recession, right?!

Me: I DID NOT LOSE my job. I just quit because that’s what I wanted and that’s what I chose to do. Read more…
